Our Statement on the 22-05-2026
RSC Supports the YES vote in the upcoming referendum for a constitutionally enshrined First Nations Voice.
Our Community understands the signicance of a public vote about our lives. we understand the signicance of allies and advocates standing beside us. we won marriage equality after more than a decade of campaigning and only because or friends and families stood with us and voted 'Yes'. the Voice to paliament stems from decades of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people seeking a fairer future and a say in the policies that affect them. So for this referendum, we couldnt be silent.
We are saying 'YES'
RSC stands with our brotherboy, sistergirl and LGBTQIA+ Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community. Our communities overlap and we're stronger when we stand together.

Our Statement on the 08-05-2024
Cumberland Council has recently passed a motion to ban books that reference same-sex parents and families in their public libraries, in addition to the ban from earlier this year on drag queen story time.
RSC are horrified and find this decision to be unacceptable and discriminatory. We seek for the decision to be overturned immediatly and for the relevant councillors to issue and apology after participating in diversity training
Removing these books sends a harmful message to children and young people abour the value of their families. This decision does not representr the millions of Australians who stand for Diversity and Inclusion across Australia.
We believe that public libraries, should be places of learning and understanding, and reflect the diversity in our communities. This Is not just a local issue, it is a national concern that affects us all.
Rainbow families across the Illawarra and Shoalhaven are worried by this news from an LGA so close to us

Our Statement on the 22-05-2026
Rainbow South Coast rejects the harmful “what is a woman” rhetoric and the misuse of “biological sex” in public debate. These talking points are not about protecting women — they are culture‑war tactics that target trans people and distract from real issues like safety, housing, healthcare, discrimination, and equal participation in public life.
Trans women are women. Trans men are men. Non‑binary people deserve dignity and recognition. Our identities are not debate topics.
We are concerned to see NSW leaders and media giving legitimacy to misinformation that erases trans people. Trans and gender diverse communities should never be used as a political tool or way to 'score points'.
Rainbow South Coast stands with our trans and gender diverse community across the Illawarra, Shoalhaven, and beyond. You are not alone. You belong, and we will get through this together.
